Covanta Strengthens Its Position In California's Renewable Power Market

Covanta Holding Corporation (NYSE: CVA), a leader and developer of Energy-from-Waste and renewable energy projects, will purchase two new biomass energy facilities in California's Central Valley. Says President and CEO Anthony Orlando, "We are very excited about adding these two wood waste facilities to our portfolio. These businesses fit nicely with our core strength in making clean energy from waste and we look forward to integrating them into our existing biomass business in California. Furthermore we see  strategic benefit of increasing our renewable generation portfolio, particularly in California given its nationwide leadership in setting goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote clean, renewable alternatives to fossil fuels."

A True Pioneer And Leader In Green Business Practices

Patagonia founder, Yvon Chouinard, is the role-model of a conscientious, environmentally-concerned and morally-aware business owner. He and his wife Malinda have been committed to green business practices since day one. Chouinard speaks to standing-room only Stanford and Harvard business school audiences on how to integrate sound environmental practices with business.  Even executives from Wal-Mart have come to meet with Chouinard to get his input and direction as they strive to implement green initiatives.

Whole Foods Market, Inc.

Whole Foods Logo

Recently we visited the Whole Foods Market in Tigard, Oregon. This was not only a delightful experience but it demonstrated how an earth-friendly, ecologically sensitive “green” business can prosper.

Visiting a Whole Foods is like entering the Mecca of natural and organic foods. Aside from a staggering variety of grocery items, the location near us has food bars, cafes and indoor restaurants to please just about any palate. In fact, with its relaxing, Starbucks-like ambience, we often find it difficult to leave.
