We all love to hear about new technologies that have an environmentally friendly aspect to it. Here is an example of a company that has found an award-winning clean technology item that will actually make a big difference in a lot of applications.

Fairchild Semiconductors (NYSE: FCS) highly integrated Green FPS power switch, the FSFR2100, received a silver medal for being one of the best IC solutions for energy conservation. This Green Apps contest showcases the unique and powerful contributions of semiconductor solutions for energy conservation. 600 engineers voted on the potential green impact of solutions entered in the contest by semiconductor manufacturers.

Green Investing Update

Plans are in motion for increased sugar ethanol production in Louisiana. New mills and plants will create thousands of new jobs and significant revenue for the state. Louisiana Green Fuels said it will buy most of its sugarcane and sweet sorghum locally which will also help strengthen the state's economy. It will be interesting to see the effects that sugar ethanol will have on the farming and biofuel industry.
